Dissonance

Research

With the title of University of Applied Sciences, the Swiss Universities of Music were invested with the mission to contribute to research – generate new knowledge, combine existing knowledge in a new way, or simply verbalize this knowledge, thus make it accessible for discussion – and to make the results circulate in the teaching and the artistic practice.

In the last years an intense and diverse activity of research has developped in the Swiss Universities of Music, at the periphery of the musicology departments of the established universities. The two following articles, published in DISSONANCE, provide an overview of these recent currents:

Thomas Meyer, Praxisorientierte Musikwissenschaft: Ein Widerspruch? Zur Forschung an den Musikhochschulen, in: DISSONANCE 98 (2007), S. 4-9.
